TPC Rules

This page presents the current set of rules that are applicable to the different positions in the Technical Programme Committee (TPC) of DATE.



Regular Topic Committee Members

Member of at most one topic committee

Excluded: GC, PC, Track Chairs

20% variation needed in each topic compared to the previous year

Maximum term: 5 years (must have at least a 1-year break after serving 5 years in any topic, except when advancing to a chair position)

No PhD students

Can submit papers in own topic (follows Conflict of Interest (COI) rules)

Topic Chairs / Co-Chairs

Member of at most one topic committee

Excluded: GC, PC, Track Chairs

Maximum term: 3 years (PC can approve only for a 4th year if needed, e.g., for the continuity of the topic if both chair/co-chair reaches max term at the same time)

After serving as chair/co-chair, cannot be re-appointed for 3 years as topic chair/co-chair; must have at least a 1-year break before joining TPC (except when advancing to track chair)

No PhD students

Can submit papers in own Topic (follows COI rules)

Track Chairs

Maximum term: 3 years

Member of Best Paper Award (BPA) Committee

Can submit papers in own track (COI)

Not eligible for BPA

After serving as track chair, cannot be re-appointed for 3 years in any track/topic chair/co-chair position; must have at least 1-year break before joining TPC (except when advancing to PC)

Review Chair

Maximum term: 3 years

Can submit papers (PC manages COI for review chair's papers, if any)

TPC Chair (PC)

Maximum term: 1 year

Member of BPA committee

Cannot submit papers

Cannot have PC, track chair, or topic chair role afterwards (can only serve as TPC member; must have at least 1-year break before joining TPC)
